[PA - V3] How to Adjust Microphone Levels to Zones

This guide is for the Public Address system type - [PA - V3]. Don't know your PA system type? Search for "What version is my PA?" on our support desk!

1. On your computer that is connected to the same network as the Public Address system, Open your Q-SYS UCI Viewer Application. For reference, UCI refers to "User Control Interface"

2. You should see your School's system appear in the UCI Names below

If you don't see your schools name, or a PC option, you may not be on the same network as your PA system, or your system may be offline. Ensure you're on a computer that is hard-wired to your schools Administration network

3. Click "PC"

4. Navigate to the "PA Levels & Mic Levels" Page

5. On this page, you can see a listing of all of the zones in your school. Some schools may have up to 12, some under 4. The zones will be named according to the areas they service. If you would like to change these names, Contact Clare Communications.

On this page, you can also see all of the Microphone & PA Inputs available to you. "Mic 1" and "Mic 2" are typically either Radio Microphones, Music Inputs, or XLR/Microphone Points in Assembly Areas.

"PAGE" is the input from your paging microphone and paging station

ClareCom PA Systems are what we call "Matrix Systems" Meaning any input can typically be routed and controlled to any output. On the following example, you'll see how the INPUT Sources (Mic 1, Mic 2, PAGE), Can be individually muted, unmuted, and volume controlled to each zone.

6. In the below example, we can see that the "PAGE" input is active to all zones, but "Mic 1" is only unmuted in the Assembly Zone.

This means that
Page announcements would be heard across the whole school
Mic 1 would work in the Assembly Zone
Mic 2 would not be heard anywhere

Alert! You must consider where the Microphone inputs are intended to be used. Often, while a microphone input has the capability to be routed anywhere in the school, it's wireless receiver, or antenna, may be placed and installed strategically in an Assembly area or specific building. If you try to assign this microphone for example to a Bus Bay that is far away from the antenna, you will encounter drop-outs.

7. By clicking the VOLUME UP and VOLUME DOWN indicators, you are able to adjust the volume of each input to each zone. In this version of the program, you are unable to adjust the "BELL VOLUME" if you need adjustments, contact ClareCom Support.

8. EXAMPLE: Mic 2 to all zones.

If you would like to hear Mic 2 in all zones, simply unmute this microphone to all zones.

9. EXAMPLE: Mic 1 to all zones.

If you would like to hear Mic 1 in all zones, simply unmute this microphone to all zones.

10. EXAMPLE: Isolate Particular Zone

For example, if you have exams in a certain zone and do not which them to be disturbed, simply mute all inputs to that zone
